Five Recipes with Deccan Kick

1. Deccan Kick Garlic Chicken

  • 500 g chicken thighs
  • 2 tbsp Deccan Kick
  • 2 tbsp thick yoghurt
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • Salt
  • 1 tsp lemon juice

Coat the chicken well and marinate for 1–4 hours.

Pan-fry or roast at 220°C until deeply browned and cooked through.

Finish with coriander and lemon.

The hero: loads of garlic, warm chilli and properly caramelised edges.


2. Deccan Kick Prawns

  • 250 g cleaned prawns
  • 1½ tbsp Deccan Kick
  • 1 tbsp butter or oil
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • Salt

Heat a pan until very hot.

Add the Deccan Kick to the oil and let the garlic and chilli become fragrant for 30 seconds.

Add the prawns and cook for 2–3 minutes, turning once.

Finish with lemon and coriander.

Fast, filthy-good weeknight food.


3. Deccan Kick Garlic Butter Mushrooms

  • 300 g mushrooms
  • 1½ tbsp Deccan Kick
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp oil
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • Coriander
  • Salt

Get the pan very hot and brown the mushrooms properly.

Add butter and Deccan Kick and toss until the mushrooms are coated and glossy.

Finish with lemon and coriander.

Serve on toast, alongside eggs or over rice.


4. Deccan Kick Roast Cauliflower

  • 1 small cauliflower
  • 2 tbsp Deccan Kick
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 2 tbsp yoghurt
  • Salt
  • Lemon

Break the cauliflower into florets and coat thoroughly with Deccan Kick, yoghurt and oil.

Roast at 220°C for 25–30 minutes, turning once, until charred.

Finish with lemon and coriander.

The garlic-chilli paste gets beautifully caramelised on the cauliflower.


5. Deccan Kick Egg Rice

This is the “I have nothing in the fridge” recipe.

  • 2 cups cooked rice
  • 2 eggs
  • 1–1½ tbsp Deccan Kick
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • ½ onion, sliced
  • Spring onion or coriander
  • Salt

Scramble the eggs and set aside.

In the same pan, fry the onion until browned. Add Deccan Kick and cook for 30–60 seconds.

Add the rice and toss over high heat until everything is coated and slightly toasted.

Return the eggs to the pan and finish with spring onion or coriander.

Garlicky, chilli-heavy, savoury rice in about ten minutes.
