1. Coastal Crush Prawns
For 2
- 250 g cleaned prawns
- 1½ tbsp Coastal Crush
- 1 tbsp coconut oil
- 1 tsp lime juice
- 2 garlic cloves, grated
- Salt, if needed
Method:
Mix everything and leave for 15–20 minutes. Get a pan very hot, add the prawns and cook for about 2 minutes per side, until just cooked through.
Finish with lime and coriander.
The vibe: charred, spicy, sea-salty prawns with a proper coastal punch.
2. Coastal Crush Fish Fry
- 2 fish fillets — seer, pomfret, snapper or another firm fish
- 1½ tbsp Coastal Crush
- 1 tsp turmeric
- 1 tbsp rice flour
- 1 tbsp coconut oil
- 1 tsp lime juice
Mix Coastal Crush, turmeric, rice flour, lime juice and enough water to make a thick paste.
Coat the fish and leave for 20–30 minutes.
Shallow-fry in coconut oil until crisp and golden.
Serve with: sliced onions, lime and a pile of hot rice.
3. Coastal Crush Coconut Roast Vegetables
This one is important because it shows the rub isn't just for seafood.
- 400 g cauliflower / pumpkin / sweet potato / carrots
- 1½ tbsp Coastal Crush
- 1 tbsp coconut oil
- 2 tbsp grated fresh coconut
- 1 tsp lime juice
- Salt
Toss everything except the lime juice.
Roast at 220°C for 20–30 minutes, turning once, until the edges are properly charred.
Finish with lime and more fresh coconut.
The coconut + seaweed + chilli combination is excellent here.
4. Coastal Crush Chicken
- 500 g chicken thighs
- 2 tbsp Coastal Crush
- 2 tbsp thick yoghurt
- 1 tbsp coconut oil
- 1 tsp lime juice
- 1 tsp grated ginger
- Salt
Mix everything and marinate for at least 1 hour, ideally 4–6 hours.
Grill, pan-fry or roast until deeply browned and cooked through.
Finish with lime.
Use thighs rather than breast — the fat works beautifully with the chilli and seaweed.
5. Coastal Crush Buttered Corn
This is the slightly unexpected one.
- 2–3 corn cobs
- 1½ tbsp butter
- 1–1½ tsp Coastal Crush
- 1 tbsp grated coconut
- Lime
- Salt
Grill the corn until properly charred.
Mix the butter and Coastal Crush and slather it over the hot corn. Finish with grated coconut, lime and a little more Coastal Crush.
It's basically coastal masala corn — smoky from the grill, spicy, salty and a little funky from the seaweed.
