Some Stories Can't Live on a Shelf Forever

kaaramokplease Admin

Not every ingredient deserves to be available all year round.

Some are too fleeting. Some depend on a harvest that only comes once a year. Others are simply too special to become everyday products.

That's why we make limited editions.

At Kaaram OK Please, our permanent collection forms the backbone of a South Indian pantry. But our limited drops give us the freedom to explore. They let us chase an ingredient at its peak, revisit a forgotten recipe, or celebrate a flavour that doesn't fit neatly into a catalogue.

They're our way of documenting South India—one season, one place and one ingredient at a time.

Purple Craze: Bottling a Season

Jamun never stays long.

For a few brief weeks every year, roadside vendors appear beneath trees laden with deep purple fruit. Fingers turn violet, tongues become badges of honour, and before you know it, the season is over.

We weren't ready to let it go.

So we turned it into Purple Craze.

Fresh jamun is paired with fermented green peppercorns and a splash of vinegar to create a preserve that's bright, tart and quietly complex. Sweet enough for breakfast, bold enough for a cheeseboard, and a reminder that some of the best flavours are worth waiting an entire year for.

It's less a jam than a way of stretching a season.

Nei Molaga & Vengaayam: A Happy Accident

Some products begin with meticulous planning.

Others begin with curiosity.

Nei Molaga & Vengaayam was never meant to become a product. It started as an experiment—fermented nei molaga from the Nilgiris, roasted onions and generous splashes of our house-made pineapple vinegar. We kept adding chillies until it felt just a little irresponsible, then stepped back and let fermentation do the rest.

The result isn't subtle.

It opens with sweet roasted onions before an unapologetic wall of chilli takes over. It's built for people who think most hot sauces aren't hot enough, proving that South Indian heat isn't simply about intensity, it's about character.

Why We Make Them

Limited editions remind us why we started Kaaram OK Please in the first place.

South Indian food isn't static. It changes with the rains, the harvest, the markets and the people growing its ingredients. Some flavours only exist for a few weeks. Others deserve to be explored simply because they're too interesting not to.

Our limited drops let us follow those stories wherever they lead.
