Our Journey: From Passion to Plate with Kaaram OK Please

kaaramokplease Admin

Welcome to Kaaram OK Please, where we bring the bold, vibrant flavours of South India right to your plate. We're not just another food brand—we’re a story of passion, innovation, and a commitment to sustainability. Our journey began with a dream to reimagine traditional South Indian cooking, making it accessible to everyone while staying true to its roots.

But behind every bottle of Kaaram OK Please is more than just a recipe. It's a reflection of the people who’ve dedicated their hearts and minds to creating something special. Meet the founders who made this dream come true.

Akhila Vijayaraghavan: From Science to Sustainability

At the heart of Kaaram OK Please is Akhila Vijayaraghavan, a woman who’s never followed the typical career path. Originally trained as a Molecular Biologist, Akhila jumped from environmental consultancy to becoming an urban farming pioneer. After launching Coimbatore’s first hydroponic farm, she took the plunge into the food world with Kaaram OK Please. This is a brand that is close to her heart as it combines her love for food history, culture, fermentation, and often forgotten heritage ingredients. Through the exploration of traditional recipes, she puts her own creative spin to close the gap of modern tastes and time-honoured flavours, making them accessible and exciting for a new generation of food lovers.

Suman Gandham: The Entrepreneur Who Sees Opportunities Everywhere

On the flip side of Kaaram OK Please is Suman Gandham, a serial entrepreneur with a knack for spotting opportunities. With over a decade of experience building and launching successful products, Suman is a problem-solver at heart. He has a background deeply rooted in tech and building new businesses. He loves combining market knowledge, consumer insights, and a bit of creative thinking to bring ideas to life. For Suman, it’s all about creating products that can truly make a difference.

Kaaram OK Please: The Birth of Bold Flavours

So, how did all this come together? For Akhila, it was the desire to bring traditional South Indian flavours into the modern world—the focus was always on giving ingredients a new life and plucking them away from obscurity, so they can shine in ways that respect both tradition and innovation. For Suman, it was about using his entrepreneurial spirit to create something that could not only be enjoyed by people but also make a lasting impact on the community and the environment.

Together, they’ve built Kaaram OK Please—a brand that’s about more than just food. It’s about celebrating culture, honouring tradition, and making sustainability a part of everything they do.

We are launching with three flavours of hot sauce which takes us back to the pandemic when there was a lot of time for kitchen experimentation. These sauces feature South Indian chillies and focus on other ingredients from the South. They are designed to be used as multi-purpose add ons, even in stir-fries, sandwiches, or marinades. They are meant to tickle your imagination just as much as your taste-buds. Food, while nourishing and delicious, is also an opportunity for playfulness and creativity. This is the spirit we want our customers to embrace as they explore and experiment with our products in their own kitchens.

What’s Next??

At Kaaram OK Please, we’re just getting started. We’re excited to continue bringing you the bold, authentic flavours of South India while supporting local farmers, small businesses, and sustainable farming practices. Every bottle is a step towards a larger goal—bringing the unique food history of peninsular India to the forefront and showcasing its extraordinary ingredients in kitchens everywhere. Not only is this an ode to this unique part of the country, but also to our ammammas, nannammas, ajjis, and paatis, and the immense cultural wealth we inherit through our time-honoured food traditions.

Stay tuned for more updates, recipes, and stories about what’s next for Kaaram OK Please. We’re thrilled to have you on this journey with us. Stay spicy!
