Loud, Proud, and Packed with Flavour: The Story Behind Our Labels

kaaramokplease Admin

At Kaaram OK Please, we don’t just craft bold flavours — we wear them on our sleeves. Or more precisely, on our labels.

When we launched our second line of products — three unapologetically South Indian condiments to accompany our hot sauces — we knew the packaging had to talk back. Loud, bright, unapologetic, and rooted in culture, just like the flavours inside.

Our Design Language: Loud & Local

Inspired by vintage hand-painted truck art, local shop signage, 90s Tamil pulp fiction covers, and even old pickle jar labels, our packaging is a love letter to all things kitsch, clever, and culturally resonant. Each label is colour-blocked with a high-contrast palette — every shade carefully chosen to evoke heat, sourness, or depth.

We let typography do the talking — pairing bold sans-serif fonts for punchy impact with classic Indian-style scripts that lend warmth and familiarity. The type doesn’t whisper; it yells. And we like it that way.

What’s in a Name? A Whole Lot of Kaaram.

Our product names are crafted to spark both flavour and feeling. They’re as layered and expressive as the sauces and condiments themselves.

Here’s the inside scoop:

🔥 Kandhari & Kokum Hot Sauce

Kandhari chillies, tiny but fierce, meet kokum’s tangy, fruity zing — this one’s all about bright heat. The name honours both key ingredients with zero dilution. No mystery. Just fire.

🌶 Bajji Molaga & Kadugu Hot Sauce

Inspired by the humble bajji molaga — those long chillies made into bajjis — paired with kadugu (mustard), this one brings a creamy spiciness. We wanted the name to reflect its snacky, street-side origins.

🌿 Pachimirapakayi & Tulsi Hot Sauce

The long, fleshy green chillies from Andhra Pradesh meet Tulsi — a herbal twist on traditional heat. The name celebrates the rawness of green chillies while giving reverence to tulsi’s sacred and aromatic charm.

Our Condiments? Even More Fun.

🍋 Jam-A-Kaaram

A spicy-sweet Guntur chilli jam with fennel. A play on “jamakalam” , the ubiquitous floor rug in every South Indian home, this is our wink to both chutney culture and the brightness of indigenous textiles.

🥭 Maanga Jalsa

Raw mango salsa with Ramnad Gundu chillies. "Jalsa" is for the celebration, the drama, the flair. You’ll taste summer holidays in every bite.

🌴 Date with Puli

A sweet-sour-hot tamarind-date relish with Kodampuli. Pun intended. You’ll fall in love — and probably text them at 2 AM again.

The Idea: Packaging with Personality

We treat our jars and bottles like they’re people. They’ve got character, attitude, sometimes a bit of sass. We believe food should be fun, expressive, and unmistakably you. That’s why every product in our lineup has its own voice — and a label to match.

In a sea of minimalism, we’ve chosen maximalism with meaning. We don’t just slap on pretty graphics — we tell stories. Through colour, language, music, and layout, our labels are a continuation of our brand’s mission: to celebrate South Indian flair in a modern, unforgettable way.
